Medal of Honor 2010.

This is the first modern based game in the Medal of Honor franchise; normally you would see this name on the cover of a parachute in WWII. Let us see if this is where they should stay.

You start the campaign in a 4X4 with some really shit music on the radio. You then enter a Taliban-held city and are ambushed by some men. While you are trying to figure out what the Fuck is going on you are being taught the basics on the game and are tearing it up in no time. It is a decent first level and you do get some sort of an idea as to the story of the game.

Throughout the game; "you will use the might of the organised and active US armies to reign down on those who stand in your path." Or so it is claimed. The only time you really use the American "might' in Afghanistan is when you capture the airfield. (Even then, there are very few reports of the Taliban using tanks at all, let alone 6 in one fight.) Other times you just use air support on something that is being a pain in the ass. (Note American english throughout the game.) Most of the time you are actually fighting an insurgent style war, instead of the mass of numbers claimed.

The campaign has got quite a few holes in it (which I will bitch about later) but it also quite realistic is some cases. The power of the Apaches in the airstrikes, weapons in use and situations are quite likely to happen in real combat situations. Unfortunately the campaign is quite short and jumps in and out or action too often.

Once you mercifully finish quite a random campaign you now unlock the online side of the game. This is by far the better part of the game. Unlike in the campaign where there are maybe 3 or 4 different type of weapons in a level, the online game is filled with them. The gameplay is SOO much better and much more intense than the stuffing around with the campaign. The support in the gameplay is very good and realistic.

Unfortunately there is not much else to this game. This is a big problem as many games now have more than just the campaign and online play. This means that many of these games that are bought will try to traded in very often and cannot be traded in because many people will note the one-time security code used to install it. This will no doubt lead to raging on FaceBook about it.

There is also something else in the gameplay that is a either something you like or something you hate. It happens on three occasions and another time but with only slight damage: An RPG hitting a helicopter. First of all, an RPG can penetrate 33cm of armour at 100 metres, if it hit a helicopter the helicopter would not survive. Then again, there have been no loses of helicopters in Afghanistan at all, let alone three in two days

Things we like:
Incredible improvement on the online gameplay.
Accurate conditions and missions.
Smart introduced gameplay additions-ammo requests, selective fire weapons.

Things we do not like:
Very bad campaign
Not a lot of game for money
Looks suspiciously like Battlefield games.
Some authenticity issues with weapons but not the worst out there.

Is it any good?

8/10. (Y) ;)
The online game play is one of the best out there and is extremely accurate landscapes and "killstreak' rewards. However it could be much better if the campaign was so shit and if you got more than a copy of Battlefield 2 for your money. Available on PS3, PC, XBOX 360.

Until next time"
