Hawx 2 review. (Hey it rhymes.)

The continuing series of Tom Clancy's HAWX franchise has been out for a while now, despite it not getting much attention from players, it is a pretty good game.

The game starts off with you listening to the same crap information at the start of the game that you get with most games now. You then assume the main character of the story and learn the basics of the game (moving, HUD screen, shooting, speed and damage if you play really shit.). Your base in then attacked and your character captured.

You then assume the role of a British fighter pilot and learn the basics of air-to-air combat (with the best aircraft) before you have to land your plane after an attack on the base.

Next you are now a Russian pilot fighting separatists in the Ural Mountains. You will then have a lengthy dog-fight which will end when all the bombers are shot down. Then you will learn of air-to-air refuelling and have a proper aircraft fight with some Ground Attack aircraft.
Throughout the story you will pick up characters and learn of a world on the brink of collapse (apparently) and fight with better fighters and better opposition. This is all part of the campaign which you must complete before online or other games.

The biggest problem with the campaign is that it is all a little unbelievable. This is especially if you know anything about military aircraft. Despite this the campaign is pretty enjoyable and not without its bonuses.
Online play is virtually the same as the campaign, same objectives and not as exciting as it should be, another thing is if you try to play it straight away. The fighters other players will use will cut you down, and it does take some time before you can match their fighters with your own.
Other games on H.A.W.X 2 are based around challenges such as surviving growing waves of enemies while staying alive and using aircraft that were not built for the role in the story. This is a pretty good accessory to have and does add to the game.

Parts we like: ;)
The campaign and the challenges of the game are very good and the ground images that are used are revolutionary in games.
These images are real and are of very good quality.
Once you start to play the game you will start to enjoy it more.

Parts we don't like: 8o|
The online play is monotonous and very bland, not like it should be.
The realistic level is very easy and is not very realistic.
In real life (depending on the aircraft and weapon) some missiles can be launched against fighters over 100km away.
Many of the fighters can go over Mach 2 (about 2050km/h) and American fighters (earlier) are better than MiGs and Su. Both are crap and are not true.
No stealth in F-35 or F-22.

So is it any good?
7/10. It is let down by the online play and authenticity but the campaign and challenges are quite good. However there are better games out there and whether it is worth your money is up to you. It is available on PS3, XBOX 360, PC and Wii (do not get it on the Wii. DO NOT GET IT ON THE Wii!)
Until next time:
Na na na na
Na na na na
Hey hey hey
Goodbye.
